Drawn In Cast List

cast list

So I’m writing this on the 17th (even though I’ll post tomorrow), and today is my one month-iversary of releasing Drawn In! It’s been so much fun to have people email me and send me messages on Facebook with pictures of receiving their book in the mail, or their pleas for the second book. I love it!

And as people read and ask questions, I’ve had several people ask who the characters would be cast as in my dream movie version, so I thought I would do a post to answer the question! Not all of the characters were inspired by actors, most of them just live in my head. But I’ll do my best to piece some folks together.

So, starting with my MC, Rennie was based on Molly Quinn (best known from Castle on ABC).

Her BFF Maia was based mostly on my friend Meghan, with a touch of Miranda Kerr (the less made-up versions of her that I’ve seen anyway):

meghan - maia       miranda kerr

Her love interest Alex I haven’t found an exact match for, but he’s got a little Ben Barnes going on:

Seth is part antagonist for Rennie, part love interest for Maia. Again, no exact match, but he’s definitely got some elements of Theo James (cos, let’s face it, the guy is HOT and this is a good opportunity to post a picture) :

Sigh.

Okay, moving on … the only other two characters that I deliberately based on actors were Aidan (Maia’s father). He has always been Nathan Fillion in my head. Despite my adoration for Theo James, Nathan Fillion is my future husband. So hands off, ladies:

Nathan-Fillion

And last but definitely not least, the character of Hollis was written to be Dennis Haysbert:

And that is my cast for Drawn in! What do you think?

Do you cast your novels as you go? If you’ve read Drawn In, do any of these match your own ideas?

  1. Great cast! I love Theo James in Divergent (I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in anything else…yet). And Molly Quinn is pretty cool. I read once on Kami Garcia’s blog about them meeting up for lunch one day, which I thought was neat. I’m glad your release month is going great!

    • Thanks Leandra! I’m not sure Theo is a perfect match for my Seth character, but I couldn’t resist putting him on there. Especially that picture! I loved him in Divergent, and almost FLIPPED when I saw an interview and found out he’s BRITISH! * drool * And I adore Molly Quinn. I made Rennie a bit different from her, but she’s still top pick for me. 🙂

  2. oh my..Theo…I think I stared creepily for five mins straight. Those eyes ❤ this is perfect timing b/c now i know who to picture when I read! With my book I always imagined my MC Lacey as a cross between Ingrid Nilsen (missglamorazzi on youtube) and Bethany Mota (also from Youtube) only less perky lol…for some weird reason I can't find a real life doppleganger for the love interest though! But I imagine the love interest in my new novel as Ross Lynch!

    • No such thing as staring at Theo for TOO long, lol 🙂
That is perfect timing since you’re about to read! I’m curious to see if they’ll end up being who you would picture … you may have better ideas for my male characters. I googled the three you mentioned for your own characters … I’ve definitely seen Bethany Mota around but didn’t know her name. She’s adorable!! It’s hard to find a good fit for a character when you don’t START with the image of someone. I have perfect images in my head for Alex and for Seth, but no one meets them for me. Someday I’ll find the perfect images to match. In the meantime… Theo. ❤
